Musical Entertainment and ConcertsThe Timbers of Shorewood hosts a wide variety of musical events and concerts each month, most of which are free and open to the public. Some concerts take place in the Shorewood Forest restaurant while others happen in the grand ballroom. There is even a summer “Concert in the Park” series, which involves a monthly outdoor concert of live performances by top area musicians. It takes place at Timbers of Shorewood’s outdoor patio during the summer months. Professional pianists often perform in our piano lounge which fills the lounge and adjoining lobby with beautiful melodies. In addition, every few months local students perform recitals for Timbers residents. During the holidays our concert spaces are filled with local groups of singers caroling. From local Cub Scout packs to professional choirs, most days are filled with holiday cheer. Artists who entertain at the Timbers of Shorewood often include:
After two-years in the US Navy, Mau got a job with a polka band, then with The Al Piazza Trio. Mau worked with Donna Rae and The Gentlemen four nights a week, and for a decade, with the Roy Gordon Orchestra. When Roy Carlos “Gordon” died in the mid-1990s, Mau purchased the orchestra, its name and music book. He merged Gordon’s book of ‘30’s and ‘40’s tunes to include dance hits from the next 30 years. Then, he renamed it The Jay Mau Orchestra.
The Tenors 3 consists of: Oscar Menoyo, of Hoffman Estates; David Carmona, of Roselle; and Richard Gersten, of Chicago. Various members of The Tenors 3 have been professionally engaged by the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Florentine Opera, Elgin Opera, Chamber Opera, the Festival Chorus and the Grant Park Symphony Chorus.
Janice plays percussion, and Samuel is a harmonica-playing, sunglasses-wearing blues man who has opted to give up on playing late nights at clubs and bars with bands for a different kind of audience.
