Seniors meet local authors at ‘WriteOn Joliet’ annual event at Timbers of Shorewood
Writers from WriteOn Joliet visited the Timbers of Shorewood Senior Living at an event called “Meet the Authors” on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at the Timbers, 1100 N. River Rd., Shorewood. The authors read passages from their latest anthologies, signed books, and answered questions from members of the Timbers’ Book Club.
As part of the event, the latest two editions of the anthology were donated to the Timbers Book Club. Members of B.L.O.C.K.S. – the umbrella group for the BryonySeries books – donated funds that were used to buy 30 copies of WriteOn Joliet’s 2024 anthology. Angie Aegerter, of Channahon, owner of Harvest Deli by Fit Foundation in Crest Hill, donated funds for 30 copies of the 2025 Anthology.

“We are so grateful to receive copies of both anthologies,” said Amy Odell, director of activities at the Timbers of Shorewood. “This is the 4th year we’ve hosted ‘Meet the Authors’ and it has become a wonderful tradition for our active book club. The authors felt famous, and our residents enjoy meeting the authors after reading their stories each year.”
WriteOn Joliet meetings are from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on the first and third Thursdays at the Joliet Public Library. The group’s members come from all over the southern suburbs. Some have self-published or have been traditionally published. Others are still exploring their writing options and interests. Regardless of the authors’ places in the writing world, WriteOn welcomes everyone looking to write, read, and grow. For more information visit writeonjoliet.com.
