Local children of all ages and their families attended the Hippity-Hop Easter Egg Hunt at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 4, at The Timbers of Shorewood, 1100 N. River Rd., Shorewood. More than 15,000 eggs have been ordered and filled with candy for the outdoor egg hunt.

The Hippity-Hop Easter Egg Hunt features prizes for everyone along with plenty of kid-friendly entertainment including:

  • Photos with the Easter Bunny from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Egg hunts run consecutively for ages 2 – 12, separated by age
  • Petting zoo, with 25-30 farmyard animals including: goats, sheep, ducks, geese, chickens, a pot-bellied pig, and a bunny rabbit
  • Caricature artists
  • Coffee & Repeat’s Coffee Truck onsite from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
  • Games, prizes, popcorn, hot chocolate, and cookies

“The Hippity-Hop Easter Egg Hunt has been an extremely popular event in the area,” said Sheila Albor, director of marketing at the Timbers. “We were excited to see all the kids and seniors together making memories.”

Although it is unclear where exactly the egg hunt tradition stems from, eggs and bunnies are symbolic of spring and rebirth. Birds tend to lay their eggs in the spring, and rabbits are very fertile animals whose babies are known to scurry about this time of year.

Just as these symbols have turned into tradition, the Timbers’ egg hunt has become a highly-attended and anticipated event for the entire community.
