Rich Stanley will perform accordion favorites at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 26, 2020, in the Piano Lounge at the Timbers of Shorewood, 1100 N. River Road. The public is invited to this free event.
Stanley started playing the accordion at age 10, and during high school, he played in wedding bands. He joined the Navy and played in the Navy Unit Band for four years as an accordionist.
Following the Navy, Stanley received a bachelor’s degree from Chicago State University and a master’s degree in Music Education from Northern Illinois University, DeKalb. He taught music in the Somonauk and Lockport School districts for a total of 34 years, retiring in 2006.
“At the present time I substitute in the Plainfield high schools and sing in the church choir,” he said.
