Short-Term Stay Rental Retirement Community
Patrick Woods will play piano for residents and the public in the piano lounge at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16, at The Timbers of Shorewood, 1100 N. River Rd., Shorewood. The event is free and open to the public.
Woods, a retired senior in Joliet, loves sharing his piano expertise with others. He has been playing for more than 50 years as avocation only. At the Timbers he will be playing Broadway tunes and music from the films of the 1950s.
“I really enjoy the residents,” Woods said. “Playing for them makes me feel good.”
Woods was very inspired by the late piano virtuoso Arthur Rubenstein. In fact, while in his 20s, Woods saw Rubenstein perform at Orchestra Hall at least ten times.
“They used to sell stage seats,” he said, “and I remember sitting in a semi-circle around Rubenstein. I loved the romantic way he played.”
Named the 2016 Business of the Year by the Shorewood Area Chamber of Commerce, The Timbers of Shorewood is a rental retirement community that provides independent and assisted living apartments and a full schedule of activities and services. Residents whose needs may change are able to stay in the same place and receive appropriate and compassionate care. Furnished apartments are also available for short-term stays.
The event is open to the public and admission is free. For more information, call Linda McCluskey at 815-609-0669.
