Understanding and Responding to Dementia-Related Behavior

The Timbers of Shorewood will host a free education program presented by the Alzheimer’s Association titled, “Understanding and Responding to Dementia-Related Behaviors” at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 9, at the Timbers, at 1100 N. River Road, Shorewood.

Behavior is a powerful form of communication and is one of the primary ways people living with dementia communicate their needs and feelings as the ability to use language is lost. Some behaviors can present real challenges for caregivers to manage.

Presented by the Alzheimer’s Association, the program will teach how to decode behaviors, identify common triggers, and learn strategies to help manage some of the most common behavioral challenges of Alzheimer’s disease.

The Timbers of Shorewood is a rental retirement community which provides senior independent living and assisted living apartments and a full schedule of activities and services. Residents whose needs may change are able to stay in the same place and receive appropriate and compassionate care. Furnished apartments are also available for a short-term stay – a weekend, a week, a month or longer.

The public is invited, and admission is free. RSVP by calling 815-609-0669.
