At the Timbers of Shorewood we tailor our care to meet the needs of each resident specifically through our supportive options. Our care is coordinated with the resident and family before the resident moves, and together we design a Person-Centered Care plan. These plans are flexible because as the resident's needs change, so will the care that is given to best match individual needs.

Personal Care and Assistance
The Timbers of Shorewood offers several options for personal care and assistance. We make a customized service package to meet the needs of each resident, and new services are added one by one as needs change. In addition, we have many on-site businesses to help with personal needs such as a beauty salon and barber shop, Timbers convenience store, on-site banking, visiting physicians and a wellness center.

Geriatric Care Management
Physicians agree that most patients recover sooner and more comfortably in the familiar surroundings of their home. The Timbers of Shorewood works with multiple excellent home health agencies and medical practices, all of which are Medicare certified. The Timbers has a Wellness Center staffed by a registered nurse available to assist residents with medical needs such as blood pressure monitoring, monitoring health conditions, and medication education.

Medication Assistance
Medication assistance at the Timbers of Shorewood includes medication reminders to ensure medication is taken at proper times. Medication management is also available and consists of setting up a pill box by a nurse who will manage the current medication list, complete the refill and ordering of medication, maintain proper storage of the mediation and communicate with the physician and hospitals.

Physical and Occupational Therapy
Several home health care, hospice and medical staffing companies provide both physical and occupational therapy on-site at the Timbers of Shorewood. These two forms of therapy are used to assist residents in regaining the ability to perform everyday functions.

Internal Medicine Physicians
Bhavesh Gandhi, M.D., a geriatrician with more than six years of experience, visits Timbers of Shorewood to care for residents in the wellness center. He is dedicated to providing a comprehensive range of geriatric care by focusing on addressing the complex needs of seniors. Residents of the Timbers of Shorewood are not required to become patients of any on-site physicians, but most residents agree that having a doctor on-site is very convenient.

Emergency Response Services
A discrete personal emergency alert button is available to all residents of the Timbers of Shorewood. Once activated, the button sends a signal to the staff alerting them that a resident is in need of urgent care after a fall, sudden illness or any emergency situation. In addition, every apartment at the Timbers of Shorewood has two emergency pull cords, which alert 24/7 staff members to an emergency.

Hospice and Palliative Care
Hospice is a philosophy and a way of caring for individuals living with serious illnesses who no longer benefit from curative treatments. When the time comes that a cure is no longer probable, hospice embraces the patient and family as they focus on comfort and the end of life. Palliative care is specialized medical care for people with serious illnesses, focused on providing patients relief from the symptoms, pain and stress. The goal is to improve quality of life for both the patient and the family.

Transportation Services
The staff at the Timbers of Shorewood understand the importance of maintaining the mobility and independence of its residents. Complimentary transportation to scheduled locations is available 7 days a week. Routine trips in the Timbers van and/or bus are made during the week to grocery stores, shopping centers and other locations.
