Joliet family donated HDTVs to seniors at the Timbers of Shorewood

The Timbers of Shorewood donated $11,200 to the Illinois Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association as part of #GivingTuesday. The money was raised during multiple events and fundraisers throughout the year.
The Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery Honor Guard bugler played taps and representatives performed a flag folding ceremony. Each veteran received gifts from American Legion Women’s Auxiliary of Lockport and a goodie bag with multiple items including a hand-made poppy crochet from the Timbers staff.
Caleb Larson, a junior at Lewis University in Romeoville, volunteers weekly playing piano for residents at the Timbers. His audience is growing every week.
The Timbers of Shorewood has been serving seniors for 20 years in the Joliet area. To celebrate the 20th anniversary milestone, we had a ribbon cutting and champagne toast. Thank you to all our wonderful residents, family members, staff, and the entire community for a fantastic 20 years.
Authors from the WriteOn Joliet visited the Timbers of Shorewood at an event called “Meet the Authors”. During the COVID pandemic, WriteOn Joliet member Denise Unland, donated 30 copies of WriteOn Joliet’s fourth anthology titled, “Write Where We Are”, to the Timbers Book Club.
The Timbers of Shorewood held a graduation ceremony for ten residents who completed the Timbers’ Academy for Seniors course on brain function. Launched in 2018, the Timbers’ Academy for Seniors features courses on a wide range of topics.
Volunteer Jennifer Loughran, of Coal City, was awarded the Joni Hilger Volunteer of the Year Award at the Timbers of Shorewood’s Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon held during National Volunteer Week on Thursday, April 21, at the Timbers, 1100 North River Road, Shorewood.
Several residents of the Timbers of Shorewood launched a grassroots newspaper called The Timbers Times. They planned, managed, and wrote the first issue of the eight-page paper. Talk about a good neighbor… Tami Wadas of Shorewood collected items for 90 gift baskets for Mother’s Day for the women residents of The Timbers of Shorewood.
